Attorney Profiles
Richard W. Leslie
“I have been driven to be a lawyer since I was young. It was my desire to help others, through extreme complexities, to obtain a good and just result – nothing more. That’s why I became a lawyer. Today, that has not changed. I enjoy the challenges of each case and the perspective of each client; and I always work my hardest to achieve the very best result for each one, regardless of the complexities or difficulties present. The law favors the prepared and the able; it is far from ‘self-effecting.’ Justice more often requires very hard work. The right result under the law is quite often much more difficult to achieve than it should be. I handle difficult cases, and I truly enjoy helping people attain their goals and protect their interests, through extensive and exhaustive application of every available legal process.”
BACKGROUND: After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and then University of Denver, College of Law, Richard was first licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado in 1997, in state and federal courts, as well as in the State of Florida in 1998. He remains active in, and regularly confers with attorneys from, these jurisdictions.
As the son of one of south Florida’s preeminent trial attorneys, you could say that Richard was born to be a lawyer, and is considered a ‘lawyer’s lawyer.’ On occasion, Richard is still privileged to work professionally with his father, Richard M. Leslie, who continues to enjoy the practice of law, after over fifty years of trial work, including oral argument before the United States Supreme Court, as well as many other significant accomplishments.
EXPERIENCE: As a true advocate, Richard’s practice is far more wide ranging than specialized. There are few cases he is unwilling to consider, and his practice is more focused on trial presentation than practice areas. Richard has vast (more than five years) experience as a defense lawyer for a multitude of prominent insurers, while working on Denver’s 17th Street, for one of the oldest and most well respected firms in the Rocky Mountain region.
In an effort to build on his extensive trial and courtroom experience as defendant’s counsel, Richard now focuses on presenting plaintiffs’ cases for trial. Richard has had several ski injury cases, successfully resolved through litigation with at fault skiers and snowboarders, as well as their insurers. Richard’s past experience as an insurance defense lawyer, along with his over thirty five years experience as an expert skier, make him the premiere ski injury lawyer in Colorado. His results in these cases underscore his knowledge, experience and abilities to reduce ski injuries into proper care, treatment and financial recovery for damages.
CURRENT CLIENTS: Richard is currently accepting plaintiff’s personal injury clients; ski and snowboarding cases, car accident clients, and others plaintiff personal injury cases, for those seriously injured through no fault of their own. If you’ve been seriously injured through no fault of your own, Richard will provide you with a no cost initial consultation to discuss your case, the treatment of your injuries and what you can expect through the legal process to collect adequate damage compensation. And if, for any reason, you do not become a client, he will provide you with referral to another attorney in hopes you will find exactly the right fit. Richard’s wide ranging experience includes: real estate matters, plaintiff (and defense of) personal injuries, in skier safety cases, automobile cases, product liability, and a multitude of other matters, including all aspects and areas of civil litigation, with an emphasis in cases that seem to be unresolvable without trial to jury (even including, on occasion, high asset dissolution matters). Richard is more about the fight, than which fight. He’s a born advocate, and that part of his personality comes through in every aspect of his (personal and) professional life.
For so very many lawyers today, the law has become ‘a numbers game,’ strictly a business – it’s now “the business of law.” Some attorneys seek settlements fast and easy – benefiting the business of law model, at the expense and detriment of the client’s individual result. But for Richard, the law, and sanctity of being entrusted with the most serious and intimate difficulties of a client’s life, it’s not a business or a game; it is a passion, a calling, and an honorable and respected profession, which he takes very seriously.
Should you need an attorney with whom you can relate, and who will fight for you employing over fifteen years of high level, practical, courtroom experience, along with a lifetime of informal legal training, good conscience, and unrelenting common sense, you should give him a call, or send him an email. He’s interested in helping you achieve the best result possible in your case.
